I got one!

Petra | April 30, 2011

Last week, or was it three ago (?), time flies when trying to keep the kids busy at home, I managed to finish a video for Darren Watson & The Real Deal Blues Band. They were playing Tutweiler by Rick Holmstrom at the now defunct Ruby Lounge in Wellington, New Zealand.

ENJOY!

And this Friday I will be going to Wellington to see Shayne Carter’s Last Train To Brockville at Bar Bodega. Not likely to film, but I’m sure I’ll take some pics.

See you next week then.

The Greenhornes 20.1.11

Petra | January 22, 2011

What a night!!

It was supposed to be The Black Keys  with The Greenhornes opening for them. That didn’t happen as the Keys cancelled due to exhaustion. Even though I was MIGHTILY disappointed I can understand, they’ve had an incredibly exhausting 2010, touring most of it.  But the people at Bar Bodega managed to pull a fast one and there I was, seeing the Greenhornes live for the first time. Not knowing their sound intimately, but having heard in an interview that their live performances are quite a treat to experience, I was quite intrigued to hear and see for myself.

Gradually the crowd was warming up and getting whipped into a decent frenzy by their songs. And so was I, well as much as in a frenzy as one can be while trying to photograph. And I have to say, as much as I enjoyed listening to the CD’s, I definitely enjoyed the live stuff MORE!

So, here some of the pics, enjoy!

Happy New Year! 1st Monday of 2011

Petra | January 2, 2011

I’m back? Maybe.

I’ve got hours/days of video footage to process and edit, and I just can’t see when I will find the time to do it.

And hopefully more to come as I’m going to see the Black Keys in Wellington this month!!  I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS!

I’m thinking of having a second blog with bits and pieces of my other life, but will have to think about how and where to organize that.

In the mean time I wish you all the best, and send me some time!!!

Keep rockin’ and rollin’,

Petra

1st Monday of September, 6.9.10

Petra | September 8, 2010

I said I was busy??!!

Last weekend I went to another show at The Garden Club and had a great night. I had decided to get out the “old” dSLR and take stills instead of videos. And just as well, a huge crowd , lots of dancing and singing would have made that a hard one to film.

So here we are, Supermodel, The Earlybirds and Mercury Crowe in all their glory!

And if you want to see more pics just go into the respective folders: Mercury Crowe, The Earlybirds and Supermodel. :)

3rd Monday of August 16.8.10

Petra | August 17, 2010

Spring is in the air and I’m busy.

In the garden and the clubs, and last Saturday I went to The Garden Club to see Mile High, Fire Danger and Mercury Crowe.

Got some great footage, now just need to process it.

This is getting now to a point where my expectations and limits collide: not enough time to do the clips how I want to. So: instead of presenting quickies, I’ll be publishing once a month.

Stay tuned and check out your local music scene!

1st Monday of August, 2.8.10

Petra | August 3, 2010

So, what’s happened in the last couple of  months? More than I can manage to process in my part-time capacity as music blog video maker! But I’ve got some to show you, so fear not. First up a couple of promo clips for Elston Gun, taken during various sessions in the past year. The titles were done by Charl Laubscher, and I think they’re hot! Also, I’ve got a couple of clips of The Lost Boys, when they opened for Elston Gun together with the The Slur Tones, who opened my eyes and ears to new bands to stalk, ahem follow their progress.

For work in progress: well the latest gig by The Checks in Wellington and the Slur Tones, and I am soooo going to try and get some more of the Homegrown footage processed. Which would be Pluto, Motocade and Bang Bang Eche!

til then, enjoy for now.
